WICHITA — Lloyd Keith Greenwood, 93, died July 8, 2018.

He was born in Wichita. When he was young, his family moved to McPherson, where he graduated from high school.

He then entered the Army Air Corps during which time he met his beloved wife, Millie, on a blind date, while training in St. Louis.

After an honorable discharge from the Army, he started a 38-year career with the United States Postal Service and was postmaster when he retired.

He sold insurance for a few years after retiring from the Post Office.

He was a flight instructor in McPherson teaching more than 200 people to fly and logging more than 10,000 flight hours.

He was also very active in the McPherson community and was honored as Man of the Year in 1972.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Durell and Wilma Annroe Greenwood; his wife of 66 years, Mildred Elinora Greenwood; son, Gary Lloyd Greenwood; brother, Jack Greenwood.

He is survived by his son, Gregg (Cindy) Greenwood, Wichita; daughter, Milloy (George) Liebe, Goddard; four grandchildren, Michael (Stephanie) Liebe, Kyle Liebe, Becca (Kirk) Tjaden and Joshua Liebe; great-grandsons, Judah Liebe and Wyatt Tjaden; cousins, Vivian Mansfield and Carl Rutledge; and 16 nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday at Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church. Graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in McPherson Cemetery, McPherson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1241 N. Ridge Road., Wichita, KS 67212 and Reflection Living - Pearl House, 625 S. Maize Court, Wichita, KS 67209.
