Officers of the McPherson Police Department were dispatched to an incident involving a gun at 2:52 p.m. on Thursday, in the 800 Block of N. Elm St. in McPherson.
A 16-year-old boy, of McPherson, reported that Rashard E. Shelton, 18, and a 15-year-old boy, both of Manhattan, came to his home to sell him merchandise he arranged to buy from Shelton after an online conversation.
The 16-year-old refused to complete the sale because the merchandise was not what had been agreed upon.
After an argument, Shelton reportedly pulled out an AK-47-style rifle. The 16-year-old called 911.
Officers recovered the weapon, which turned out to be a BB gun, and arrested Shelton for attempted robbery and aggravated assault. He was booked into the McPherson County Jail with bond set at $12,500.
Officers detained the 15-year-boy as a child in need of care, and then released him to juvenile intake and assessment. Charges against the 15-year old are pending.
