It seems the wheels on the bus do continue to go around and around. Earlier this week, Prestige Bus Lines, which operates the Beeline Express, announced streamed line service through Central Kansas and additional stops on the Kansas-Colorado line.
The Beeline Express is a new bus line serving southwest Kansas residents. Prestige Bus Lines has partnered with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) and the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) to operate the routes, which launched in November.
Starting Monday, March 21, Prestige will add four new buses, paid for by the Kansas Department of Transportation with funding awarded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
In addition to the new buses, the company announced new stops on the east-west line. Passenger request and changes in the Greyhound bus schedule has allowed for new stops in Kingman, Pratt and Greensburg. The route travels from Wichita to Pueblo, Colo., daily.
The Wichita to Salina route has also seen changes. Prestige owner Dave Rockey, said a stop has been added in Hutchinson that is available for travel twice daily.
The line includes daily stops in McPherson, at Kyle’s Discount, 6-1 N. Main, and Lindsborg at Scott’s Hometown Food, 215 N. Harrison. Both are flag stops only and do not sell tickets.
The southbound route stops in McPherson at 12:20 p.m. and 7:50 p.m. daily and Lindsborg at 11:55 a.m. and 7:25 p.m. daily.
The northbound route stops in McPherson at 10:10 a.m. and 5:10 p.m. daily and Lindsborg at 10:35 a.m. and 5:35 p.m. daily.
"We know there is a need for reliable, affordable bus travel in southwest Kansas," says Rockey. "The new routes and cities will make it easier for more Kansans to take advantage of Beeline's services. We will continue to be responsive to our valued passengers."
The Beelline Express brings much-needed intercity bus service to a part of the state that lacked connection to the national bus system.
Manufactured by Motor Coach Industries of Schaumburg, Ill. the four new buses feature state of the art technology and style, designed for both passenger comfort and convenience. Each bus accommodates up to f50 passengers, is wheelchair accessible, includes an on-board bathroom, wireless internet connectivity, electrical outlets for charging phones, computers and games, adjustable leather seating with desk tray, armrests and more.
