This January, six Bethany College students attended a conference in Vero Beach, Fla., to earn their Youth and Family Ministry Certifications. The representatives from Bethany included Larkin Jaynes, senior, Parkville, Mo.; Joe Jedrzejewski, freshman, Longmont, Colo.; Sam Reeves, senior, Wray, Colo.; Jenifer Schwandt, junior, Liberty, Mo.; Elissa Stein, sophomore, Gypsum.; and Anna Telthorst, freshman, Auburn.
Hosted by Vibrant Faith Ministries from Minneapolis, Minn., the seminar hosted twelve other students from across the country. Additionally, it provided a setting for each attendee to learn and share faith formation skills, which they can then use in a professional youth or family ministry capacity. A grant from Vibrant Faith Ministries alleviated a portion of the cost.
“The experience was a great opportunity for idea sharing and networking,” said Anna Telthorst, one of the two Bethany freshmen on the trip. “We spent a lot of time learning how to help others find their faith, but the experience became one of faith formation for us as well.”
