Always a crowd favorite and still touring in an old converted school bus, King Midas performs songs of the 50s, 60s and 70s. Purchase your $5.00 admission button in advance at 25 locations throughout Lindsborg, including the Chamber of Commerce and the Convention & Visitors Bureau. Bethany College students with a student ID and children under 12 can attend for free.
King Midas & the Muflers were formed in 1965 by drummer Bob Hapgood with musicians from McPherson County. The second "f" was left out of "muffler" in order to avoid possible legal problems with the Midas Muffler Company. In 45 years of playing together, King Midas has never disbanded and remains busy performing several times a month. King Midas was inducted into the Kansas Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
Preceding the dance will be a bike and wagon parade for children ages 5-12. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. prizes will be given to the best representative of this year's theme, "Feelin' Groovy." Food and novelty vendors will be available throughout the evening. In the case of rain, the dance will be held at the Stroble-Gibson Gymnasium on Bethany College Campus.
