McPherson’s Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved an application from Stutzman’s Greenhouse to open a seasonal garden center at the old Midway Motors lot on Kansas and Ash during Tuesday’s meeting.
“We’ve been looking at McPherson for a number of years,” said Stutzman’s owner Ben Miller.
Stutzman’s plans on erecting a 40-by-80-foot W frame shaded structure on the property, and Miller said they would be receptive to letting area non-profit organizations use it during the off-season.
Miller told the commission the new facility will be open from April to October and expects to employ 10 to 15 people from McPherson while the facility is open.
Stutzman’s already has several locations in Kansas, including Great Bend, Salina and Hutchinson.
