The McPherson Healthcare Foundation recently announced the donation of children’s games designated for the planned “child-friendly room,” located on the third floor of Memorial Hospital.
The first-year seminar group from McPherson College coordinated the efforts and acquired the necessary funds to purchase these valued items.
McPherson College Freshman Seminar Advisor and Assistant Professor of Graphic Design, Dee Erway-Sherwood, said the donation was the group’s effort to accept and practice in the college’s mission of service and participation.  The hospital was selected by the group to focus their efforts with youth as the beneficiaries.
“When the students learned of the hospital’s plans to construct a child-friendly room it became a very simple task to supply the items that would enhance a child’s stay in the hospital and provide a calming environment during the youth’s recovery,” Sherwood said. “The freshmen were exceedingly inspired by the community’s support when they described their mission for the hospital.”
The McPherson Healthcare Foundation is dedicated to building a healthier and safer McPherson County.
This mission is only possible through the donations designated by citizens for this purpose.   Residents can explore other ways of enhancing the community’s health care services through charitable gifts by logging on to the organization’s Web site at www.machealthfound.info.
