The women of the ELCA at Andover Lutheran Church in Windom are sponsoring a Bold Day fundraiser from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 25 at The Well in McPherson.
Funds raised from the day of pampering and pep talks will aid the Feed the Kids program this summer.
Children age kindergarten through fifth grade will be treated to snacks, a puppet show and crafts on the first Saturdays of June, July and August.
Payment will be on a sliding scale based on income. Children in need will be sent home with a bag of snacks.
“The way the economy is going, we thought we should do this because it affects so many,” said Kathy Regehr, Bold Day organizer.
The group hopes to raise $5,000 from Bold Day for Feed the Kids.
Donating to help buy treats for the children this summer means there will be many treats in store for the Bold Day attendees.
The $25 cost will include a lunch, a lecture titled “Finding Your Bold” by Chaplain Mary Bridges, a chocolate fountain, shopping, silent auction and free Mary Kay facial, foot spa and relaxation therapy.
For an additional $25 each, Creative Hairlines will offer spa packages, and Body Construction will offer body wraps.
“It will be a day of pampering and good food, lots of laughter and fellowship with chocolate. You never can go wrong with women and chocolate,” Regehr said. “You get to shop. Everything women like to do will be there.”
In addition to this day of bold, the women of ELCA are seeking nominations for bold women who have made differences in the McPherson County community. These women will be honored on Bold Day.
Bold women nomination forms and Bold Day registration forms can be picked up at The McPherson Sentinel, The Well, Creative Hairlines, Body Construction, Stone Chimney and other downtown businesses.
Nominations for the bold woman award need to be turned in by Monday.
Those wishing to purchase $15 T-shirts commemorating the event need to have their orders in by Friday. The final Bold Day registration deadline is Feb. 10.
Bold award nomination forms and Bold Day registrations need to be sent to Andover Lutheran Church, Women of the ELCA, 117 Dakota Road, Windom, KS 67491.
