Mrs. Dixie J. Davidson, 66, of McPherson, passed away at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, peacefully at Hospice House, Hutchinson, Reno County.
Mrs. Davidson was born in Dover, Okla., on Jan. 27, 1945, the daughter of the late Merle and Pauline J. (Tharp) Gorton.
She attended elementary schools in Dover, Okla., and graduated from high school in Flour Bluff, Texas.
She was a member of First Christian Church of McPherson. She was a member of the Disciples of Women’s Fellowship and the W.O.W. Sunday school class. She taught Sunday school classes and was very active in the activities of the church.
Dixie was a homemaker.
She also was a member of the Friendship Club of McPherson.
Dixie J. Gorton was united in marriage to Gary E. Davidson in May 1974 in Wichita.
Survivors include: husband Gary E. Davidson of McPherson; daughter Sarah D. Davidson and her husband Maz Maslanka of McPherson; sons Troy K. Davidson of New Jersey, and Chad T. (Monica) BaconRind of Idaho; sister Judithann Gorton of Tennessee; nine grandchildren - Gary, Tanner, Morgan, Peyton, Kianna, Chad Jr., Gunner, Atonea and Nash; and numerous other family members
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother David Gorton.
At the family’s request, there will be no visitation.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at the First Christian Church, McPherson, with pastor Lynn Scott officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Home Care of Reno County or Kansas Christian’s Home, in care of Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, 222 W. Euclid St., McPherson, KS 67460.
