Obituary: Susan “Susie” U. (Seckman) Brazil

Susan “Susie” U. (Seckman) Brazil, 57, died Feb. 17, 2012, at Wheatstate Manor in Whitewater.
She was born Dec. 30, 1954, in McPherson, the daughter of Arthur “Art” and Virginia (Nordstrom) Seckman.
While young, her family lived in both Topeka and Salina while her father was in the Air Force. The family moved back to McPherson, where Susan grew up. She graduated from McPherson High School in 1973. She moved to Longmont, Colo., for a short time with her family. She then moved to Wichita. She took college classes in both Longmont and Wichita. She worked part time as a model. She was employed with Fleming Foods for many years, where she started as an entry-level clerk and ended as an accounting supervisor. When Fleming closed their Wichita division, Susan chose to stay in Wichita near family and friends. She accepted a position with Beechcraft as a flight secretary. She also worked part time at the Greyhound racetrack in Park City. She was also a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents and brother Scott Seckman. Survivors include sister Sherri and Brad Clark and brother Kristopher Seckman; sister-in-law Diane Carpenter; nephews Adam and wife Anna Clark and Shawn Seckman; niece Virginia “Ginny” Seckman; aunt Betty and uncle Walter Barchesky; aunt Radean Nordstrom; uncle Glen “Pete” Bowren; cousins Barbara Pangle, Mike, Bobby and Artie Bowren, Gary Seckman, Cynthia Barchesky, Barbara Hyman, Barb Hooper (Bob Jr.’s wife), Kay Zook, Steve Nordstrom, Deana Rubial, Dawn Biscaro, Linda Walker, Janette Smith, Dana Nordstrom, Donna Johnson, Jan Gerber and Annette Lewis; and many other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the New Life Foursquare Church at 811 N. Ash St., McPherson, with pastor Chuck Baker officiating. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will follow at McPherson Cemetery. A luncheon at the church will follow.
