Ruth Elizabeth Neufeld, 87, died Feb. 6, 2017 at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born Aug. 21, 1929 in Highland Park, Illinois, the daughter of William and Ruth Heaney Pirie.

She was a graduate of Highland Park High School. A homemaker all of her life, she was a member of Zoar Mennonite Brethren Church and had attended Bethel Mennonite Church, both of Inman. She was a speaker for the Navigators and the Evangelical Child Welfare Agency.

She married Jack Liske in 1947. He died January 1994.

She married Abe Neufeld in 1994. He died in 2000.

Survivors include three daughters: Jane (Cary) Vincent, Hillsboro, Oregon, Carol (Mike) Parker, Wichita, and Nancy (Larry) Schroeder, Inman; two sons: Keith (Sally) Neufeld, Hutchinson and Doug (Pam) Neufeld, Inman; a sister, Margaret Neunhoffer, Southern California; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; the Victor Balzer family; and a special friend, Gloria Thiessen.

She was also preceded in death by her close companion, Victor Balzer; a son, Bruce Neufeld; a brother; Newton Pirie; and step-father, Harry Rogan.

Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 at the Zoar Cemetery, Inman.

Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at Zoar Mennonite Brethren Church, Inman, with Pastor Dwight Carter presiding.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2017 at Buhler Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant View Home, Inman, in care of the mortuary.
