Antoinette L. “Toni” Prather, 70, passed away April 15, 2017 at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River.

She was born May 31, 1946 in Covina, California, a daughter of Eugene and Esther Nastri Chewning. She graduated from Lyons High School, Barton County Community College and received a bachelor’s degree from Friends University and her master’s degree from Kansas State University. She also graduated from the National Chamber Institute.

Antoinette took up residence in Lyons in 1964 and was a former nursing home administrator at Kingman and McPherson; Chamber of Commerce manager at Lyons and McPherson; and Rice County Community Foundation director.

Antoinette was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons. She married Ralph Barker, but they later divorced. She then married Jack Prather on June 3, 1992 at Newkirk, Oklahoma.

Survivors include husband Jack of the home; sons Bobby and Jody Barker, Lyons, and Jace and Mary Beth Prather, Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughters Kim and Rick Miller, and Jennifer Barker, both of Lyons, Jill Bliss, Jan Dietrich, Jena and Derek White, Jara and Jason Herron all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister, Carol and Terry Hunter, Papillion, Nebraska; 24 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Mass and parish rosary will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons, with Father Robert Spencer officiating. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. April 19, 2017 at Birzer Funeral Home, 214 West Ave. S, Lyons, with the family present. Memorials may be sent to Rice County Community Foundation, Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, St. Paul Catholic Church or Hospice of Reno County in care of the funeral home.
