Shirley E. Martin, 82 of Marquette, died June 27, 2009.

She was born on June 29, 1926, the daughter of Edward and Evalena (Kuntzman) Staib at Hutchinson, Kansas.

A resident of Marquette since 1950, moving from Hutchinson, she was a homemaker.

On March 5, 1950 she married Carl E. Martin at Hutchinson. Carl preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2007, along with her parents; a daughter, Peggy Davis in 2007, a brother, Bobby Staib and a sister, Peggy Anderson.

Survivors include a son, Dan Martin and Wanda of Omaha, Neb; a daughter, Carol Jones and Bob of Marquette; a son-in-law, Roger Davis of Marquette; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Elim Lutheran Church, Marquette with family present from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at the church. Burial will be in the Excelsior Cemetery, rural Marquette.

Memorials may be given to the church or the Vacation Bible School, in care of the Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.
