Congressman Jerry Moran placed the Kansas economy ahead of Washington politics and sponsored legislation this week expanding agricultural trade with Cuba. H.R.4645, the Travel Restriction Reform and Export Enhancement Act of 2010, seeks to reduce trade barriers on American farmers and ranchers by eliminating bureaucratic red tape that will allow Kansas farmers and ranchers to sell their goods more competitively in Cuba. Moran, a senior member of the House Agriculture Committee, recognized that current U.S. trade policies hurt Kansas farmers and ranchers by making it more expensive for Cubans to buy agricultural products from the United States. Instead of buying Kansas wheat, they buy from countries less friendly to the United States. Congressman Moran realized that Kansas farmers like me need Cuba to buy our grain, not the grain from someone else. He supports Kansans and that is why I will be supporting Jerry Moran in the upcoming Senate election.
