The final quarterly fund-raising reports for the November general election have started to come in, showing Republican Tim Huelskamp maintaining a comfortable lead financially over Democratic opponent Alan Jilka in the race to succeed Jerry Moran in the 1st Congressional District.
In a period spanning from July 15 through Sept. 30, Huelskamp raised $268,152, bringing his fund-raising total to $1,087,287. Jilka, in the same period, raised $30,894, bringing his total fundraising to $130,526.
Huelskamp continues to operate without any campaign debt. To date, he has spent $887,817, with $302,207 spent in the previous quarter. Jilka, also operating without any debt, has spent $111,849 to date, and $23,277 in the quarter.
As far as cash on hand for the final weeks of the campaign, Huelskamp is sitting on $211,670, while Jilka has $26,788.
According to the most recent SurveyUSA poll done for KWCH on Oct. 6, Huelskamp maintains a 37 point lead over Jilka, a former mayor of Salina.
