McPherson College has announced that its women’s basketball coach, Shelly Prescott, has resigned her position.
Prescott served three seasons as an assistant coach prior to accepting the head women’s basketball coaching position in March of 2008. In two seasons, Prescott guided the Bulldogs to a 9-42 overall record.
McPherson has begun the process of searching for a new head coach.
Central Christian College’s baseball doubleheader originally scheduled for Saturday at Ottawa has been moved to McPherson.
Game time at Light Capital Diamond is set for 2 p.m. All fans are invited to attend.
McPherson College’s annual softball tournament scheduled for today and Saturday has been cancelled due to unplayable field conditions at Wall Park.
The Bulldogs are now off until March 19 when they play at the Sterling Tournament.
McPherson College will be hosting its annual track and field meet Saturday at McPherson Stadium.
The meet gets under way at 10 a.m. with the field events.
Running events begin at 11 a.m., with the final event of the day at 4:30.
All fans are invited to attend.
Rolling Acres Golf Club is starting its Men’s Night on March 16 at 5:30 p.m.
Nine holes will be played with a different format each week. All golfers are welcome to come out and enjoy an evening of golf.
Central Christian College’s men’s tennis team defeated Sterling 8-1 here Tuesday.
Singles winners were Ivory Washington, Troy Cook, Jesse Crawford, Josh Schneider and Gunner Kelly. The teams of Cook-Crawford, Washington-Jeff Szolis and Schneider-Nathan Vanderhoof also won.
There were only two women’s matches with Brittany Longoria and Brittany Gillilan playing for the Lady Tigers and winning.
Central Christian College’s baseball team put together its best offensive effort of the season here Tuesday in a 13-3 wipeout of North Central University.
Sam Carr’s two-run homer got the Tigers off and running, as they improved to 4-8 on the year after starting 0-8.
CCC had 18 hits in the game.
Offensive leaders were Damon Smith (three hits, two RBI), Aaron Premer (three hits, one a double, two RBI), Stephen Abbott (three doubles), Carr (two hits), Troy Richter (two hits) and Wade Wedow (two hits).
David Cummings went the distance to record the victory and it was his third complete game. He fanned six and scattered six hits.
CCC plays Thursday at Newman.
Central Christian College’s men’s basketball team begins its quest to qualify for the National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament Thursday when it competes in the first round of regional play.
CCC, 21-9, takes on Mid-America Christian University at 6 p.m. Thursday in Waxahachie, Texas. Southwestern Assemblies of God is the tourney host.
If the Tigers win, they play the winner of Colorado Christian and York College at 6 p.m. Friday. The championship game is set for 2 p.m. Saturday.
