BC grad signs

with Liberty

SALINA — Bethel College defensive back Josh Lewis signed with the Salina Liberty of Champions Indoor Football.

Lewis played for Bethel in 2014 and 2015. In 13 games, he has 34 total tackles and an interception.

Lewis played in two games with the Liberty last season, posting seven tackles. He also had a a reception on offense for 12 yards.

Salina was 2-10 last season.

Thunder blanked

by Mavericks

WICHITA — The Wichita Thunder suffered a 4-0 loss at the hands of the Missouri Mavericks Friday night in ECHL play at Intrust Bank Arena.

Missouri goaltender Ville Husso had the shutout, stopping all 33 Thunder shots on goal. Drew Owsley took the loss for Wichita, making 34 saves on 38 shots.

Missouri scored two minutes into the game on a Darren Nowick power-play goal with assists from Rocco Carzo and Matt Finn. Sam Povorozniouk scored 6:11 into the first period with an assist from Radoslav Illo. Shawn Pauly added an unassisted, short-handed goal early in the second period.

The Mavericks put things away with a goal by Tyler Elbrecht from Nowick and Kevin Tansey with 2:29 remaining.

Wichita is shut out for the third time this season, falling to 11-11-0-1, sixth place in the Central Division. Missouri improves to 11-12-1-4, fifth place in the Mountain Division.

Wichita hosts the Allen Americans for back-to-back home games at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday and Friday. Allen is 17-13-1-1 and in second place in the Mountain Division.
