It was a very strong day on the mats for the MAC Wrestling Club on Saturday, in Newton at the Newton Open/Novice Tournament by gaining 13 top-three finishes, including four first-place champions.

Gaining first-place championships were Luke Farley, Gavin Williams, Jayce Gunn and Brock Richardson. Earing second-place finishes were Jaxon Carlson, Jaxon Chrislip, Colt Harlin, Christian Mattox and Elijah Clarke, while Asher Allen, Brayden Senecal, Jase Fitzmorris and Brady Rinker all place third in their divisions.

In addition, Gavin Montagne earned a second-place finish at a Novice Tournament in Derby in the 6-under, 55 lbs. division.

MAC Wrestling Head Coach Lance Engel reminds everyone that next Saturday, February 17, the MAC Wrestling Club will be hosting their own tournament at Canton/Galva High School. Anyone interested in helping are asked to contact Lance or Lennie Engel at 620-241-5679.

On Sunday, February 25, the MAC Wrestling Club will be hosting the War of the Roses Kansas Championship Girls Wrestling Tournament at Central Christian College in the Ed Pyle Sports Complex. Wrestling will begin at 10:00 a.m. and admission is free.
