McPHERSON-The McPherson College men's tennis team improved to 6-3 overall and 3-0 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) with a 9-0 victory over Tabor College Saturday afternoon at the McPherson High School courts.
The No. 22-ranked Bulldogs swept through doubles as Jacob Turley and Andreas Hubertopped Angel Miguel and Anton Sopin, 8-3, at the No. 1 position, Juan Alejandro Jimenezand Hector Carrillo Perales defeated Gallagher Martin and Stephen Wilson, 8-4, at No. 2, and Daan Coppelmansand James Lee blanked Francisco Gallinal and Dhiraj Adhikari at the No. 3 spot.
The return of Carrillo - who missed most of the month of March - afforded McPherson head coach Dustin Wheeler the opportunity to shuffle his singles lineup.
Jimenez moved up to the top spot and posted a 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (10) victory over Miguel. Carrillo added a 6-0, 6-1 win over Sopin at No. 2, Huber topped Martin, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 3, Coppelmans beat Wilson, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 and Lee posted a 6-2, 7-5 win over Gallinal at No. 5. Leandro Neix Bazzanini capped the day by overcoming a first-set loss in a 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (5) win over Billy Wiser.
The Bulldogs host (RV) Bethany College (8-0, 3-0 KCAC) on Wednesday afternoon in a match that will a long way towards determining the KCAC's regular-season champion. First serve from the McPherson High School courts is slated for 4 p.m.
