It was a rough series in the pitching game for the McPherson High School softball team as the Lady Pups weren't able to keep up with Andale High School. In result, the Lady Pups was swept by the Lady Indians. McPherson falls to 2-6 of the year.

Game One: Andale 17 McPherson 5

It started off competitive for both teams as the game was tied 3-3 in the first half. The Lady Pups even got their first lead in the second inning. Things fell apart after that. McPherson went scoreless in three innings and only had one run late in the sixth. Andale took advantage by scoring runs after runs. In the seventh inning, Andale put up five runs to seal the deal The Lady Indians finished with a total of 20 hits.

"These are the first games we played this season where I feel like we were out-matched. We were outhit, and outrun.  Andale has a fantastic hitting team and they are fast on the bases. Our pitching was comparable to theirs, but Crist struggled late, missing middle too often," Bullpups head coach Danica Fitzmorris said.

Game Two: Andale 10 McPherson 0

Andale didn't slow down after that as game two ended in a shutout. Addie Fitzmorris led with four strikeouts, but she also gave up 11 hits and three errors in their loss to Andale. The Lady Pups didn't find any answers offensively after Andale kept scoring runs in every inning.

(Addie) Fitzmorris threw too many pitches of her own fault and because of our errors in the field. The girls were disappointed in their offensive play and hoped for a better showing our home opener. Defensively Avery Mayfield played really well in right field. She made a spectacular catch at the fence. Our secondary play from the outfield allowed for some great putouts at-bat," Fitzmorris said.

The Lady Pups will be looking to bounce back next week as they will face Rose Hill High School at home at 4 p.m.
