HUTCHINSON– The Central Christian College men's and women's golf teams were back in action on Monday and Tuesday, playing in a tournament at Carey Park Golf Course in Hutchinson, Kansas, hosted by Sterling College. The Tiger men played the first 18 holes of the tournament on Monday, finishing with a team score of 311. On Tuesday they came out and had one of their best days on the course all season. They combined to shoot a 298, the first time all year they have had a sub 300 round. Individually, they were paced on the course by junior Collin Duckworth, who finished in 10th place, opening with a 75 on Monday, then bouncing back on Tuesday and finishing with a 73 for a two day total of 148. For the women, they also had a spectacular final round on Tuesday. They started the Tournament by posting a 367 and ending day one in sixth place as a team. On day two, they combined to shoot 11 strokes better than day one, shooting a 356, also their lowest round of the year. That 11 stroke jump was enough to propel them up a spot in the team standings to fifth place with a 723 two day total. Freshman MaiLeAna Bruce was the low individual for the Tiger women. She opened the tournament with an 85, then posted an 86 on day two. Her two day total of 171 put her just outside the top 10 in a tie for 11th place. Next up for the Tiger golfers is the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament. The women's tournament is April 20th – 22nd, while the men will compete April 23rd and 24th.
