Tyler Thiessen of Elyria Christian High School has announced on his Twitter page that he signed his letter of intent to play college basketball at Sterling College.

"I chose Sterling because when I stepped on campus and talked to the coaches. It felt like it was the right fit for me, It is a beautiful, small campus that really feels like home. They have a great coach, and a good group of guys that I look forward to playing with." Thiessen said.

Thiessen was part of the surprising Eagles' team that went on a state championship run for the first time in program history despite falling short to Almena-Northern Valley in the Class 1A DII finals. The Eagles finished the year at 21-2 of the season.

"I'm going to miss the connections and friendships I had with the guys, and going to state this year gave me even more memories," Thiessen said.

According to Thiessen, he is expecting to play at the forward position. He also wants to major in sports management to one day be an athletic director or director of operations.
