The 2018 Summer Bullpups got their season off to a tremendous start as they start their summer season at 3-0 after beating Manhattan Next Level and sweeping Augusta in a double header series.

With the scored tied 1-1 after the first inning, the Bullpups pushed across four runs in the second and another seven in the third to take a commanding 12-2 advantage. After each team scored two runs in the fifth, the game was called due to the run rule, with the Bullpups gaining the 14-4 win.

While only getting eight hits on the game, the Bullpups used them well as three of the hits were doubles by Zane Myers, Jakob Feil and Kourtney Craig. Feil and Garrett Farney each finished the game with two hits each, while Honestee Whittker had credit for three runs batted in. Adding two runs batted in on their stat sheet were Feil, Myers, Shane Starkel and Chandler Wiard. The Bullpup offense was also helped by the fact that the Manhattan Next Level recorded 10 errors.

Zane Myers started the game on the mound and got credit for the win for the Bullpups. Myers went two innings, giving up four hits and two earned runs while striking out a pair. Chandler Wiard came on in relief a went two innings while Jakob Feil pitched the final inning.

Game one Summer Bullpups 9 Augusta 2

In game one, the Bullpups went into the top of the fourth tied at 2-2 before erupting for seven runs thanks to a couple of errors by the Augusta defense, giving them the lead they did not relinquish in taking the 9-2 victory.

Garrett Farney was the lone Bullpup to get two hits while Jakob Feil and Shane Starkel each recorded three runs batted in. When on the base paths, the Bullpups stung Augusta with six stolen bases, including two by both Feil and Chandler Wiard.

Wiard started the game on the mound for the Bullpups and took the win, while giving up just three hits, no earned runs and striking out two. Dylan Rinker came on in relief to finish out the final two innings.

Game Two Summer Bullpups 6 vs Augusta 5

All the scoring in game two came in the first two innings as Augusta led the Bullpups 2-1 after the first, but in the second the Bullpups poured across five runs while holding Augusta to just three to take the 6-5 lead which they held onto to get the doubleheader sweep.

Only Dylan Rinker had more than one hit for the Bullpups by getting a pair, though Garrett Farney smacked out a double on his only hit of the game. The Bullpups had just six hits in the game, to go along with six walks.

Starting the game for the Bullpups was Farney, who gave up four hits, two earned runs and three walks while striking out three in getting credit for the win. Rinker came in to get the save in relief.

The Summer Bullpups will make their 2018 home debut on Tuesday, June 5 when they host rival Salina at Grant Complex, with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
