LINDSBORG— The Swedes athletic department announces the hiring of Melissa Bulin as an assistant athletic trainer for the upcoming year.

"We are excited to add Melissa Bulin to the Bethany College athletic training staff," Bethany head athletic trainer, Lauren Jordan said. "She will bring in a great new perspective and her fresh outlook on athletic training will encourage athletes both on and off the field."

Bulin comes to Bethany fresh off of finishing graduate work in athletic training at University of Central Oklahoma. There, she worked with the UCO men's and women's basketball teams, along with the football team as a graduate athletic training student.

During this time, Bulin also worked 13 sports for the 2016-17, and 2017-18 school year for Edmond Memorial High School in Edmond, Okla. Bulin also has experience working as a physical therapy tech and therapy aide in Oklahoma and Nebraska.

During the summer of 2015, Bulin worked as a research intern for the Institute for Rehabilitation Science and Engineering within the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Neb.

Bulin volunteered her time at several events during her time as a graduate student. These events included; International Finals Rodeo, Endeavor Games, she was a USADA Chaperone, Memorial Marathon, Special Olympics, NCAA Big XII Women's Basketball Tournament, OATA Student Athletic Training Day, Susan G. Komen Three-day Breast Cancer Walk, and the Oklahoma City Redman Triathlon.

"I am excited to begin my journey at Bethany College with athletes, coaches, and other educators. This community has been so welcoming already with that same small hometown feel I grew up in. I look forward to developing my career here and thank the school for such a great opportunity," Bulin said.

Bulin earned an Associate of Science Degree from Central Community College in Columbus, Neb. and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb. before earning her Master of Science in Athletic Training from University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla.
