LAWRENCE—The McPherson Aqua Pups Swim Club closed their 2018 summer season with five swimmers competing at the Missouri Valley Swimming Long Course Championships in Lawrence over the weekend.

According to Aqua Pups Coach Kyle Banman, “The kids closed out their season by swimming very well in the last, and biggest meet of the season.”

Danica Brunk swam in her fourth Missouri Valley Swim Championship competition while Eli Farley, Rachel Fischer, Claire Schmidt and Clarea Williams were Aqua Pups competing in their first.

Coach Banman noted it was of interest that not only did Fischer, Schmidt and Williams compete in their first championship meet, but they all three swam in the same event on Friday, the 50 Breaststroke, with all three competing in the same heat. Coach Banman noted they all dropped their personal best times.

The Aqua Pups will now be off until shortly after Labor Day, when they begin practicing for the fall and winter Short Course Season.
