WICHITA— The annual Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference football media day began on Friday at the Crestview Country Club in Wichita. With football season around the corner, each coach spoke on the expectations and what they are looking forward to during the 2018 season.

KCAC also introduced a new team to the conference. Avila University, located in Kansas City, Missouri, has joined KCAC after being with the HAAC conference. Bethany College head coach Paul Hubbard is familiar with Avila and the HAAC conference and is excited to add another team in the conference.

"I've coached against Avila plenty of times, I know what they're facilities are," Hubbard said. "I spent eight years back in the HAAC. It's great for the conference having 11 football schools makes scheduling that much easier because you don't have to go find an outside opponent. I think they're going to come in and be much more competitive."

KCAC will also be collaborating with ESPN3 as it will be broadcasting all 11 teams. ESPN3 broadcast their games twice, one at home and one away.

"It's awesome for the schools themselves to have national recognition, all of sudden you're in the East coast, Hubbard said. "What's best about it is that we don't have to play at 11. We can play at our normal time slots. It's going to be good for the conference."

After the coaches finished their speech, the results of the media poll and coaches poll were released. Tabor College was voted No.1 in the coaches poll with four first-place votes, while Sterling College was No.1 in the media poll with nine votes. McPherson College, ranked ninth, had one first-place vote on coaches poll. The Bulldogs were also ranked eighth in the media poll with no votes. Bethany College didn't have any first-place votes from both polls but was ranked seventh in the coaches poll and five in the media poll.
