LINDSBORG—The Swedes baseball team has announced the hiring of Ross McCarty as an assistant coach for the 2018-19 season.
"Ross McCarty is an addition to our staff that will have an immediate impact on the culture of our program," Bethany head coach, Barrett Weaver said. "His knowledge of the collegiate process and his passion for success is immeasurable. We are extremely blessed to have Ross McCarty join the Swede Nation."
McCarty comes to Bethany from W.T. High School in Dallas, Texas. There, he has been an assistant varsity baseball coach focusing on the infield and hitting since June of 2016. During this time McCarty also worked for Rawlings as a team Rawlings Texas scout.
Before this, McCarty worked for The Fast Center in Denton, Texas as an 18U Showcase Head Coach. He was also a strength and conditioning coach for Heavy Hitters Gym. As well as a hitting coach and recruiting coordinator for The Fast Center.
McCarty begin his higher education career at Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas where he played baseball for two years before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education with a minor in Biblical studies in 2015 from Arlington Baptist University in Arlington, Texas. There, he played his final two years of baseball under Coach Weaver.
"I am truly blessed with the opportunity to come to Bethany College and be a part of such a great athletic department," McCarty said. "I would like to thank Coach Weaver, President Jones, and Dane Pavlovich for entrusting me with this endeavor. I am ready to do everything I can to continue the great traditions that have already been established here.
