LINDSBORG— The swedes volleyball team picked up their first win of the season tonight. They defeated the University of Science and Arts Drovers, 25-19, 25-15, and 25-17.

A couple late stops and runs by the Swedes gave them the edge in their set. After a back and forth battle, the Swedes were able to pull out the win.

In sets two and three, the Swedes came out strong and remained in control of the game. Not allowing the Drovers to gain the lead even once in the final two sets of the match. Bethany's largest lead of the night was 10 and they pushed to keep a solid lead throughout these sets.

The Swedes front row was able to spread the love with five different Swedes earning four or more kills. Ivona Vojvodic, junior setter, had four kills, Madie Baker, junior hitter, and Ashae Murphy, freshman hitter, each had five, Nakajeya Massenburg, freshman hitter, notched seven, and Jordan Valentine, freshman middle, led the team with nine.

Vojvodic did the setting duties today and had 25 assists throughout the match.

 Madelaine Melsness, junior passer, led the team with three service aces while Brenna Black, junior passer, had two.

On the back line, Haley Reifsteck, sophomore libero, led the team with 17 digs. Vojvodic and Black were behind her with nine and eight, respectively.

The Swedes travel to the Baker University Invitational on Friday, September 7 and Saturday, September 8. There they will take on the University of the Southwest, Graceland University, Haskell Indian Nations University, and Benedictine College. Their first contest is set to begin at 10 a.m. on Friday.
