HAVEN—From the first snap of the game with Haven on Friday, the Smoky Valley High football team dominated the field as they scored a 44-0 shutout on the road at Haven.
The Vikings senior running back Tim Lambert broke away twice for scoring runs of 50 and 30-yards in the first quarter as Smoky Valley took an early lead. They then blew the doors open by scoring three more times in the second quarter on a 23-yard pass from Lane Schrag to Andrew Peters, a one-yard power run from Cort Elliott and a 48-yard scamper from Schrag, giving the Vikings a commanding 37-0 halftime lead.
Schrag broke for another long gainer in the third quarter to finish off the Smoky Valley scoring when he scored from 44 yards out.
The stats told the tale as the Viking defense stuffed the Haven offense, holding them to a total of minus-13 yards in total offense while dropping them for losses 12 times. Matthew Adams led the defense with 10 total tackles, one solo and nine assisted, while Elliott had five.
On offense, Smoky Valley piled up 366 total yards to go with 16 first downs, including 324 yards on the ground. Schrag only passed the ball twice, but completed both for 40 yards and the touchdown, while also gaining another 97 yards on eight totes of the ball. Tim Lambert led the Vikings with 135 rushing yards.
