LINDSBORG—The Bethany volleyball team was unable to pick up their third in a row, five set contest today against the visiting Sterling Warriors.
The Swedes picked up a 25-23 win in the first set before the Warriors bounced back to win the next two sets; 21-25, and 22-25. It appeared that the match was close to over as the Warriors had a 22-15 lead in the fourth, but the Swedes were able to claw their way back and force a fifth set with a 27-25 win. However, the Warriors showed their strength in the five set, winning 15-6.

Two Swedes were in double-digits in the kills category tonight. Madie Baker, junior hitter, and Ivona Vojvodic, junior setter, had 17 and 11 kills, respectively. Vojvodic also earned 35 assists on the day.
Defensively, it was Vojvodic who led the team with 23 digs. She was followed by Haley Reifsteck, sophomore libero, with 14, Brittany Roush and Brenna Black, junior passers, with 13 digs each. Serenity Storey, junior middle led the team, getting in on five blocks, while Ashae Murphy, freshman hitter, added five blocks to the Swedes' number.

The Swedes hit the road next for a double header at Avila University on Friday, Oct.12. Bethany will first face the Eagles in a KCAC contest at 2 p.m., followed by a nonconference game against Fontbonne University at 4 p.m.
