LINDSBORG—The Bethany men's soccer team was unable to come out on top of an offensive shootout of a game tonight. The Swedes hosted Avila University, and ultimately fell in the contest 2-1.

Bethany got on the board first when Jack Rhys-Jones, junior midfielder, netted a ball off of the foot of Erdi Mucllari, junior forward. However, with under a minute to go in the half, the Eagles evened up the score with a goal of their own.

The teams remained tied through most of the second half until late in the game, Avila put in another ball to take the lead. They would keep that lead through the final minutes of the competition.

The Details . . .

The Swedes outshot the Eagles, 18 to 11 with seven of the Bethany shots ending up on goal.

Michael Wick, senior keeper, was in the net for the Swedes. During the game, he was able to nab five saves.
