Central Christian College men’s coach Tony Romero wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
Romero saw his CCC career scoring record fall here Friday when his star guard Sean High scored 21 points in an 85-78 Tiger win over York College. CCC is now 4-3 in the MCAC and in fourth place.
High broke the record midway through the first half and now has 1,257 points in his career, though he’s only been at CCC two years. Romero accomplished his in four.
CCC, now 18-6, blazed to a 50-point first half and then had to hang on in the second half after York had made a spirited run.
CCC’s Don Gavin scored 17 points and Devin Mitchell added 11 off the bench.
“We got a big contribution from our bench tonight, 28 points and 16 rebounds,” Romero said. “I felt like we did a better job with our team rebounding on both ends of the floor.”
