CCC men roll; women lose

Central Christian College’s men came out with a blistering first half  Monday night and went on to breeze to a 93-62 rout of Grace University.
The Tigers made 17 of 32 from the field in the first half, including 8 of 15 from 3-point, to leave the Royals far behind, 50-21.
CCC did cool off in the second half, but the first half enabled it to breeze to its fourth win in six games.
The Tigers had too much muscle, as Don Gavin poured in 28 points and pulled down eight rebounds, while Christopher Jones had his best game as a Tiger with 16 points and 15 rebounds.
Also in double figures for the Tigers were Christian Goolsby (15 points), Sean Posey (14) and Kaelon Gary (10).
CCC goes on the road Thursday to play Union College.
CCC men (93) -- Posey 14, Conley 8, Ford 2, Gary 10, Goolsby 15, Jones 16, Gavin 28.
Grace (62) -- Ma 4, Lamont 11, McClain 6, Plank 10, Rollerson 5, Drake 7, Yates 3, Carlson 5, Entz 5, Campbell 6.
GRACE WOMEN 63, CENTRAL CHRISTIAN 48 -- The Lady Tigers couldn’t find the range in the first half and despite outscoring the Royals in the second half, suffered a 15-point setback.
CCC managed just 8 of 32 from the field in the first half, as the Royals sprinted to a 37-19 lead. Grace shot 13 of 27 in the first half and made 9 of 10 at the foul line.
Central Christian righted the ship in the second half and actually outscored the Royals 29-26, but the damage had been done.
Felicia Stevenson fired in 21 points to account for nearly half of the Lady Tigers’ output. Rachel Schnell led the Royals with 17 points.
CCC, now 1-6, plays Thursday at Union College.
