Elyria Christian School’s boys are flying high.
The Eagles made it four straight wins Tuesday night with a 40-32 triumph over White City.
Elyria, now 10-7, held the Huskies to just 9-percent shooting in the first half and went on to claim the victory.
Jourdan Case fired in 18 points to lead the Eagles.
Elyria Christian girls 52, White City 29 -- The Eagles once again moved within a game of that elusive .500 mark with the victory, as they are now 8-9.
The Eagles dominated from the outset, sparked by a 17-point effort from Shawna Penner.
Inman boys 61, Little River 38 -- The Teutons improved to 10-6 by dominating the Redskins, who are now 4-13.
Inman started somewhat slowly, up just 25-12 at the half, but caught fire after the break. Luke Ropp ripped it up for 24 points and Sam Martin furnished 13 for the Teutons.
Greg Prescott led Little River with 12.
Little River girls 45, Inman 30 -- Nobody has been as stifling defensively lately as Little River, which held Inman to just eight first-half points in jumping out to an 11-point lead.
Megan Stagner led Little River, now 14-3, with 14 points. Inman’s Mishaun Pfannenstiel accounted for more than half of the Teutons’ scoring with 18. Inman is now 9-7.
Moundridge boys 66, Goessel 56 -- After a difficult week, the Wildcat boys got back on the horse.
MHS, which lost two games last week after winning 12 of 13, found itself in a shootout with the Bluebirds, as it was 37-32 at the half. MHS made nine free throws in the final quarter to seal the deal.
Trey Unrau amazingly made six 3-pointers in the first quarter and had seven for the game, as he finished with 36 points. Austin Neufeld added 17 and Alex Otte came up with his bst game with nine.
Moundridge girls 48, Goessel 44 -- MHS, now 11-5, had to survive a furious Bluebird comeback. It was 39-22 after three quarters before Goessel unfurled a 22-point final period.
Jessie Vogts and Spencer Suderman tallied 15 apiece for the Wildcats.
Wichita Collegiate boys 69, Smoky Valley 34 -- Collegiate showed why it has a chance to defend its state title, racing to a 27-10 lead after a quarter.
Josh Walton led the Vikings, now 7-9, with 10 points.
Wichita Collegiate girls 72, Smoky Valley 36 -- Ashia Woods, regarded by many as one of the top five players in the state, scored 29 points for Collegiate, which sped to a 40-22 halftime lead.
Smoky, now 4-12, received good games from Lori Dauer (15 points) and Jordan Sherwood (11).
Peabody boys 64, Canton-Galva 31 -- Peabody doubled the Eagles 36-18 in the middle two quarters to highlight its victory. C-G, which fell to 3-13, was paced by Codey Johnson with 11 points and Taylor Myers added 10.
Peabody girls 25, Canton-Galva 23 -- The Eagles finally came alive with 10 points in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t pull out the win. Peabody held the Eagles to 13 points through three quarters to lead 20-13. The Eagles, now 5-11, were headlined by Alyson Bressie with eight points.
