Central Christian College’s women’s basketball season came to an end Monday with a 78-53 loss to Colorado Christian College in the NCCAA Regional Tournament.
The Lady Tigers completed the year with a 17-14 record, their third  winning season in as many years under coach David Bryant.
The Cougars were in control from start to finish, leading by 13 points at the half, 39-26, and ballooning the lead to as many as 30 in the second half.
Freshman guard Ashlie Matney was the bright spot for the Lady Tigers, making 5 of 9 shots from beyond the arc for a team-leading 15 points, the only Central player in double figures.
Two Cougars had double-doubles in the victory. Kelsie Hert had 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Ainsley Barratt had 17 points and 13 rebounds. Rebounding was a difference as the Cougars had a whopping 62-34 advantage.
The outlook is bright for the Lady Tigers, as Kelley Currie was the only senior, and most of the players who saw the bulk of the minutes were sophomores or freshmen.
