Stating that the aviation industry in Kansas is crucial to economic growth in the state, GOP gubernatorial candidate Sam Brownback continued on his “Road Map for Kansas” stump, this time addressing aviation.
Brownback’s plan — unveiled Tuesday in Wichita to Kansas aviation business leaders — included working closely on competitiveness and future trends and growth opportunities.
“Kansas needs to be proactive instead of reactive on new program starts and be prepared for the future direction of the industry,” Brownback said. “To assist in this effort, I will form an aviation advisory committee of leaders from all segments of the industry. We will develop a strategy to address current challenges as well as prepare for future opportunities.”
Brownback’s challenger in the November general election, Democrat state Sen. Tom Holland, has repeatedly attacked Brownback’s “Road Map” plan because of a lack of specifics.
“While Sam Brownback is waiting on his 'advisory committee' to get back to him with some ideas, Tom Holland has already put forward concrete commitments to invest real dollars into training the Kansas workforce and expanding research at our colleges and universities,” said Holland campaign spokesman Seth Bundy.
