Two cousins and a sister-in-law, all of whom work with fiber, will be at the Red Barn as artists-in-residence Feb. 9-20.
When they visited the studio last year, they were inspired by artist-in-residence Shin-hee Chin, and decided they wanted to apply for a residency.
Karen Arzamendi, Denton, Texas, recently finished her M.F.A. in fiber from the University of North Texas State.
Her teaching experience includes the University of North Texas State as a teaching fellow and as an adjunct instructor. She has also taught quilting classes in Texas and Washington state. Karen has had numerous group exhibitions, and her work has been included in books, articles and promotional materials.
Claremore, Okla., resident Jennie Box, who began quilting in 2006, is also a painter who has expanded the arts in her life to learning how to play the guitar. Her baby quilt won an award in the 2006 Claremore Quilt Show.
Karin O’Reilly, McPherson, has been the owner and operator of Quiltin’ Time in McPherson since 2003. She provides artistic freehand machine quilting services for clients. Her quilts have been shown in magazines and will be in the 2012 AQS Quilt Art calendar.
All three women are looking forward to working together, sharing ideas and trying new techniques while they are at the Red Barn Studio.
