McPherson City Commissioners gave approval for the annual CROP Walk, which will be held on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 1:30 p.m. The walk, held by the Ministerial Alliance, will begin and end at the United Methodist Church.
Commissioners also passed an ordinance formally authorizing the half-cent sales tax voters approved during the Aug. 3 election. The tax will take effect on Jan. 1, 2011.
In other business, Tree Board representative Barb Brookshire informed the commission that the city’s tree reimbursement program will be reduced to covering one tree, instead of two.
Next week’s commission meting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 7, because of the Labor Day holiday.
