Olpe repeats as state champions

HAYS – The Olpe Eagles crowd chanted, “Green machine, green machine, green machine,” a rendition of Mean Machine from The Longest Yard. Olpe (13-0) used a dominant ground attack to flourish its way to a second consecutive state championship, beating the previously undefeated Inman Teutons (12-1) 35-6 in the Class 1A Kansas state high school football championship game Saturday at Fort Hays State’s Lewis Field Stadium.

Masks are strongly recommended by the Church. Burial will be held at McPherson Cemetery in McPherson, KS at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 13, 2021. Mary Alice passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, KS, surrounded by family.

Dean Brungardt

MCPHERSON - Dean Ahl Brungardt, 59, of McPherson, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021, at his home with family by his side under hospice care. He had courageously fought his cancer for two and half years. He was born October 8, 1962 in Omaha, NE, to Al Brungardt (deceased) and Marilyn (Brungardt) Bishop. Dean moved to McPherson, Kansas in 1990 and worked as an electrical lineman for the Board of Public Utilities for 31 years. He had numerous interests including dirt track racing (most recently at 81 Speedway near Wichita), bowling, boating, motorcycle riding and golfing.
