AUGUSTA, Kansas – On Tuesday night in Augusta, the McPherson girls basketball team embodied the old saying, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. What wasn’t broken (and surely needed no fixing) was the Bullpups’ signature full-court defense that compensated for a slow offensive start en route to a 50-21 rout of Augusta to clinch McPherson’s 15th Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division III title.

PRATT – On Tuesday the Smoky Valley boys and girls went on the road to Pratt to close out the 2021-22 regular season and brought home a 50-32 commanding win for the Lady Vikings while the boys suffered a tough 56-47 loss.
BROOKVILLE – Closing out their regular season on Tuesday, the Moundridge boys and girls took a road trip to Brookville to battle with Ell-Saline and the Wildcat boys recorded a 15-point, 58-43 win while the Lady Wildcats had a rough mid-game and lost by 16, 49-33.
INMAN – This week marked the end of the regular season for the Inman boys and girls this week and they closed with the Teuton boys getting a pair of wins over Solomon, 60-44, on Monday, followed by a 68-9 thumping of Herington on Tuesday, while the Lady Teutons closed out with a gut wrenching 50-48 loss to Herington on Tuesday. For the Teuton boys, they close out the 2021-22 regular season with a record of 16-4 which earned them a #3 seed at their Class 2A sub-state where they will battle Berean Academy at home on Tuesday, March 1. With a win, the Inman boys would then play the winner of a game between Moundridge, the #2 seed, and Flint Hills.
AUGUSTA, Kansas – On Tuesday night, 4A’s ninth-ranked McPherson boys basketball team rolled into Augusta looking to get back over .500. And it used its best defensive performance of the season to do just that, winning 56-33.
McPherson freshman Ciara Rawson entered the Girls’ State Wrestling tournament Wednesday with only five losses on her season record. At the highest level, she lost only once more, to the eventual state champion at 235 pounds, MacKayla Miller from Scott Community, and would go on to place third in the event. Two seniors, Amethyst
