Gary Robert Armour, 73, of Shawnee, KS, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 at his home after a 17 month courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Gary was born September 7, 1948 in Dunkirk, NY to the late Robert E. and Elinor S. (Hubbard) Armour.

Kansas universities get $24 million to research disaster response tools

TOPEKA — A new research initiative is providing universities and colleges in Kansas with $24 million to research how the state can better support residents before and after disaster emergencies. The Adaptive and Resilient Infrastructures Driven by Social Equity, or ARISE, project is a federally funded program through the National Science Foundation.

June Elaine (Holloway) Boula

June Elaine (Holloway) Boula, 85, passed away at Ascension Living Via Christi Village in Manhattan, Kansas, on June 4th, 2022. She was born on May 26th, 1937, to Glen and Marjorie (Bailey) Holloway, in Windsor, Missouri. On March 24th, 1956, June was united in marriage to Kenneth Boula in Kansas City, Missouri. When she was younger, she enjoyed playing softball and developed a deep love for the game of baseball. She was a devoted Kansas City Royals fan throughout her lifetime. Her other interests included traveling, being a member of the Moonlighter’s CB Club in McPherson, Kansas, and spending quality time with her family. She worked several years for Sterling Drug in McPherson, and was employed as a security officer for Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, prior to retirement.
