Passion and grit are two key qualities of what it takes to operate a successful business, according to the speaker at a recent business award ceremony I attended. There are many qualities of successful business owners and managers, but passion and grit rank at the high end of what it takes, and I would add leadership to the top of the list too.

Not only did the 36 golf teams enjoy the perfect afternoon at the Chamber Classic “A Bunch of Hacks” Golf Tournament, but the hole sponsors appreciated a relaxing and comical way to build business relationships. A great opportunity for team building among the sponsor businesses, golf teams and volunteers. Chiefs’ new-look offense misses pieces in mandatory minicamp

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) Patrick Mahomes walked onto the field for the start of the Kansas City Chiefs’ mandatory three-day minicamp with his right tackle standing off to the side in a bucket hat and his Pro Bowl left tackle nowhere to be found. Lucas Niang was present but didn’t work out as he continues to recover from knee surgery. Missing entirely was Orlando Brown Jr., who has yet to sign his franchise tender. The Chiefs and the Pro Bowler are working on a long-term deal and both sides are optimistic that it will get done before the July 15th deadline.

Sporting KC drops heart breaker

Sporting Kansas City (3-9-4, 13 points) slipped to a 2-1 loss against the New England Revolution (5-5-4, 19 points) on Sunday afternoon at Children’s Mercy Park. Captain Johnny Russell treated a sold-out crowd to the game’s best moment early in the second half, bagging a brilliant free kick for his 50th career Sporting goal in all competitions, but New England claimed victory behind goals in either half from Gustavo Bou and Emmanuel Boateng.

The earthly life of Edythe Griste Berglund came to a close on June 2, 2022. Family and friends will sing to the glory of God and celebrate Edythe’s life at the First Baptist Church, McPherson, Kan. at 6 p.m., Sunday, July 10.
