Bullpups cross country looks to build on recent success
MCPHERSON – The McPherson High School cross country teams made a little bit of history last season by sending both the girls and boys teams to state for the first time in over a decade. This season, the Bullpups are hoping lightning strikes twice and will try to improve on last season’s finish.
Viking Harriers Look for State Titles
LINDSBORG – Both the Smoky Valley boys and girls cross country teams found success in 2021 with the Viking boys placing third at the state meet and the Lady Vikings placing seventh. This came after the Viking boys won their second straight Central Kansas League title and both Tytus Reed for the boys and Gracie Lambert for the Lady Vikings claiming league titles as well.
High Hopes for Viking Football
LINDSBORG – The 2022 season could be pivotal for the Smoky Valley football team as they will return nine starters on both the offensive and defensive side of the game while looking to improve on their 2021 mark of 5-4.

McPherson High football looks to break through in new season
MCPHERSON – Fantastic seasons but heartbreaking finishes. That is what can describe the McPherson High School Bullpup football team’s last half decade of seasons, with three of those seasons coming to an end in one-score losses in the state semifinals. This upcoming season, however, the Bullpups are looking to break through the heartbreak and into the promised land.

Lady Viking Tennis Looking to Repeat Title Runs
LINDSBORG – For the 2022 season, the Smoky Valley girls tennis team will be looking to continue their successes at all three levels – league, regionals, and state. In 2021, with a firstyear head coach in Vince Warbinton, the Lady Vikings simply won a Central Kansas League championship, then brought home a regional title at Hillsboro before placing second at the Class 3-2-1A state meet after which Coach Warbinton earned the nod as State Class 3-2-1A Coach-of-the-Year.

Bulldogs for Bolton: McPherson College hires new head softball coach
MCPHERSON – When a team looks for a new head coach, they look for a proven winner that brings experience to the table. McPherson College appears to have struck gold as the Bulldogs hired Abby Bolton as the team’s new head coach this summer.

Lindsborg Child Development Center giving tours, enrolling kids
A little over a year ago, ground broke on the Lindsborg Child Development Center, 1111 Wells Fargo Road and things have progressed rapidly to a point at which they are now offering tours of the facility and enrolling kids for all classrooms. Every week Tour Tuesdays begin at 10 a.m. at 1111 E. Swensson St. Virtual tours can also be taken at www. childcareforlindsborg. org. Tours allow staff to pass along information on child to teacher ratios, curriculum, and tuition.
