Dear Amy: I am an atheist. I believe in practicing kindness and respect for other people’s views.
DEAR DR. ROACH: Both my husband and I just had the flu. We initially suspected that it was COVID, but the tests were negative. My symptoms, especially cough and runny nose, hung on for over two weeks. I visited an urgent care clinic where I was told I most likely had the (seasonal) flu, and I was prescribed an inhaler as well as a cough suppressant. The physician indicated that they have seen a lot of flu cases this summer. I am thinking the rise is because of people wearing masks and staying home these past couple of years, which could thereby weaken our immune systems.
During the Little River vs Rural Vista football game Friday, Sept. 10, People’s Bank and Trust sponsored a Veterans tailgate meal and a $100 yardline raffle. The raffle was a fundraiser for Little River High School Student Council. Community members who purchased a ticket picked a line on the football field and the one who chose the winning line won $100. Crissy Olander of Little River, Kansas picked the winning yard line. The prize was awarded to Olander by StuCo representative, Peyton Erickson. All proceeds from the raffle will be used to put on fun activities for the 22-23 school year. It was a great night to be a Redskin, as they started off with honoring veterans and ended the night beating Rural Vista 57-6.
Lindsborg Old Mill & Swedish Heritage Museum The Lindsborg Old Mill & Swedish Heritage Museum is asking the community for ideas for how to honor a more than 100-year-old elm tree on museum grounds that has to be removed, as well as putting out a special call for assistance in covering the unexpected expense. Lenora Lynam, Executive Director of the museum, said that removing the tree is the last thing the museum wants to do, but that there is little choice.
