STUDENTS(S) OF THE MONTH:

Payton Hamilton (12): “Payton has continued to be a trusted leader and mentor in the classroom and on the debate team. She helps the novices and JV, as well as helps manage team tasks and works as essentially an additional student aide. She helps create team culture and finds ways to bring each member of the class together into a cohesive team. She also looks beyond her years on the squad and sets up rituals to continue her good work into future classes.” - Nominating teacher Eric Saunders (12): “This is my fourth year of having Eric in English. I co-taught a class that he was in at MMS. He came to my first hour class and helped set a positive example of what being a good student looks like. Eric is a positive role model for new MHS students, and he took 2 days of his free time to assist by being a role model.” – Nominating teacher

Tea Tasting

Real tea from the Camellia sinensis plant is the most popular beverage in the world – second only to water. Irene Nielsen, Certified Tea and Etiquette Consultant said as she was answering questions from guests at the Casual Corner Tearoom, inside the Main Street Galleria in Lindsborg. Nielsen stated that most Americans have never tasted real tea or properly steeped tea, so they are unfamiliar with the more than 8,000 varieties within the single plant species. Microwaved water and the fannings or trash in teabags has distorted the American experience with tea leaves.
