The McPherson City Commission met Tuesday and received opened an update from McPherson Housing Coalition Executive Director Chris Goodson and Programs Director Karolyn Moore about the outcome of last week’s McPherson Housing Coalition Conference.
The Burnin’ Down Main event was a success, with a crowd of about 600 people, 100 pumpkin giveaways, face painting, inflatables, and cornhole. The first-place winner for chili was Flat Branch Home Loans, represented by Renee Williams and Katy Aichele. In second for best chili, was Rory Rierson, and in third place, 365 Sports Complex, represented by Stephen Gray. In first place for best soup was King’s Two, represented by Stacy Hubbard and Gary Reiman.
The month of October was recently dubbed Principal Appreciation Month for the education system in Kansas. Throughout the month, the McPherson Sentinel will be giving a spotlight to principals and other leaders from different towns throughout McPherson County. It is also a way to introduce and welcome area principals that have been here for a short time.
