EMPORIA, Kansas – The season started as a mystery, but the evolution of the McPherson High School girls golf team unfolded in front of everyone’s eyes as the team completed an improbable state run on Tuesday in Emporia during McPherson’s first ever season as a program.
BUHLER, Kansas – The final week of the regular season in high school football brought one of the best rivalries in the state along with it, but this year’s edition of the McPherson versus Buhler battle on the gridiron fell lopsided after a 49-6 Bullpup victory Friday night.
MCPHERSON – The term “senior night” wasn’t taken lightly by the McPherson Bullpups boys soccer team Thursday night, as seniors Kayden McVicker and Tito Mendez were responsible for all four of McPherson’s goals in the 4-2 win over Great Bend.
HOPE – On Saturday, October 15 the Little River volleyball team, ranked number two in Class 1A Division I, traveled to Hope for the Wheat State League Volleyball Tournament hosted by Rural Vista and returned home as league champions, doing so in dominating fashion.
The McPherson Chamber of Commerce held their annual meeting and award ceremony at the Community Building on Oct. 18. Becky Goss was awarded the 2022 President’s Award Nominee and Trenton Ruxlow earned the Emerging Leader Award.
Krehbiels Specialty Meats hosted the Chamber Connection on Thursday. The McPherson Chamber of Commerce and community members got to learn about the business and hear from managers of the store about the products it has to offer.
Many things were addressed at Tuesday’s City Commission Meeting. Mayor Tom Brown opened the meeting sharing the Chinese phrase for crisis, wei (meaning danger) and ji (meaning opportunity). The concept Mayor Brown wanted to get across was that we (as a society) get so caught up in the bad news, that we sometimes don’t see the positives.
Bill Dean Williams, 76, of McPherson, KS, died October 17, 2022. Arrangements are with Stockham Family Funeral Home, McPherson.
Rachel Lee Johnson, 80, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 12:16 p.m., Tuesday, October 18th, 2022 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. Rachel was born in McPherson, Kansas on November 16, 1941, a daughter of Bessie Arlene (Anderson) and Thomas Samuel Miller.
