MCPHERSON – A tick in the win column has been a difficult commodity to come by for the McPherson Bulldogs football team this season, but back-to-back wins against Bethany and St. Mary have evened McPherson’s record at 4-4 with two games left in the season.
The band Hyway 14 played at the Little River Fall Festival on Oct. 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The band covered 90’s rock and red dirt country and even performed some of their original music in front of the Peoples Bank and Trust in Little River, Kans.
Sometimes, things are bigger than a game. For the El Dorado Wildcats football team, they showed that on Friday night against Field Kindley in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.
GOESSEL – On Saturday, October 22 the Little River volleyball team earned a trip to the Class 1A Division I state tournament for the second season in a row by out battling two tough opponents in Canton/Galva and Goessel.
MOUNDRIDGE – Last Thursday, Moundridge battled hard and won a 48-44 slugfest battle over Central Burden in their first round of the 8-Man Division I football playoffs. The win puts the Wildcats at 6-3 for the season and earned them home field advantage on Friday for the regional championship match with Lyndon.
WAMEGO, Kansas – The finish line was not only crossed at Wamego on Saturday for the McPherson Bullpups cross country teams, but on the season as well after a sixth-place state showing by the boys team and strong runs by the three individual qualifiers from the girls team.
LITTLE RIVER – on Thursday, Little River jump started their hopes for a trip to the 8-Man Division I state championship game by hammering the visiting Titans of Attica/Argonia for a 58-12 win in round one of the state playoffs.
INMAN – Last Thursday, Inman played host to Ellis in their first game of the Class 1A state playoffs and earned themselves a commanding 36-7 victory. For the season, the Teutons are now 8-1 and ranked number eight in Class 1A as they begin to prep for a regional playoff game next Friday on the road at Oakley.
CANTON – Canton/Galva began their hopeful march to an 8-Man Division II state title on Friday evening when they hosted St. Paul and shutout the Indians with a 60-0 win.
