Veterans visit students

McPherson County Sherriff Jerry Montagne had a busy week leading up to Veterans Day. On Nov. 10, Sherriff Montagne along with other McPherson County Veterans, Shaun Carlson, Dan Hervey, and Bob Cox visited Moundridge Elementary School in honor of Veterans Day According to Moundridge Elementary School Principal, Rebecca Khosravipour, each of the men shared about their years of service and the branch of military they served with the students. “Our students really enjoyed meeting and learning from them,” Principal Khosravipour said. In addition to Moundridge Elementary School, Sherriff Montagne also visited Elyria Christian School to share about Veterans Day. On Nov. 11, Sherriff Montagne was a guest speaker for the Canton Galva Jr/Sr High School Veterans Day event, hosted by Canton Galva Honor Society. He spoke about Veterans Day, his time in the service and his father’s time serving in WWII. Another event Sherriff Montagne took part of the week of Veterans Day was visiting the students at Windom Elementary School to talk about Stranger Danger and personal safety.

Since 2005, this market has promoted honoring loved ones at Christmas with a donation in their name.This year’s virtual market includes ten agencies, most of them local.

White leads Bulldogs to season ending win

STERLING, Kansas – Wins can be hard to come by in sports. Some wins seem miles away and others feel within a team’s fingertips. For the McPherson College football team, it’s been the latter. However, a dominant 47-10 win over Sterling on Saturday helped close the Bulldogs’ season with a win and a .500 record, as senior running back Jonathan White led the way.
