For over 20 years, a basketball program between the Moundridge Elementary School third graders and High School basketball players has been going strong and has continued again this year. Shelby Graber, USD 423 Board Clerk said that the Basketball Buddies exchange letters back and forth throughout the season and spend a day playing games and eating lunch together.
LINDSBORG, Kansas – The Smoky Valley Viking wrestlers not only have a familiar face in head coach Ben Elliott returning for an 18th season but also within the roster, as nine starters return to the mat this season for the 2022-23 Vikings.
MCPHERSON – For the first time in several decades, McPherson High School will navigate the wrestling season with a new head coach as Mike Davison inherits a tradition-rich Bullpup program with a talented roster for the 2022-23 season. Davison, who is a McPherson native and wrestled for the Bullpups in high school, takes over for long-time Bullpup wrestling head coach Doug Kretzer.
MCPHERSON – It seems like clockwork for the McPherson High School girls basketball team, as the Lady Pups carry aspirations of winning a 16th straight league title into the 2022-23 basketball season that holds plenty of promise for a veteran team.
INMAN, Kansas – Firstyear Inman High School head girls basketball coach Megan Heckel led the Teutons to a 6-15 record in the 2021-22 season, but the Teutons’ sights are set higher as a mix of experience and youth fills the new roster.
LITTLE RIVER – While Little River is closing out the football season with hopes of a state title, the community has begun gearing up the hopes of a double trip to state tournaments in March by both the Little River girls and boys basketball programs.
MOUNDRIDGE, Kansas – One is a high-flying offense, the other is a stout defense. Together, the Moundridge High School boys and girls basketball teams look to make a serious splash in the Heart of America league and turn in a deep postseason run.
MCPHERSON – Even in what some considered to be a down year for the McPherson Bullpups boys basketball team last season, the Bullpups came away with a third-place finish in state with a win over Topeka Hayden. This season, however, McPherson has loftier expectations with a strong returning core that has some pep in their step.
To start off the City Commission Meeting on Nov. 29, Commissioner of Public Lands and Facilities, Gary Mehl encouraged the community to go look at Lakeside Park if they haven’t had the chance to see it recently and thanked Director of Public Lands and Facilities Wayne Burns.
